London’s Christmas Markets: Where to Find Unique Handmade Gifts

There’s no where quite like London at Christmas. It transforms into a festive wonderland during December. With lots of Christmas markets all over the city they are brimming with unique, handmade gifts for your loved-ones. Whether you’re searching for artisanal crafts, eco-friendly goodies, or bespoke decorations, these markets are perfect for finding something special. Here’s our favourite places to go hunting:

Covent Garden Christmas Market

At the top of out list is iconic Covent Garden which sparkles with festive charm, with near by Seven Dials, Neal’s Yard, Floral and King Street. The market has a curated selection of handmade gifts, from jewellery and homeware to seasonal trinkets and seasonal sellers offering handmade ornaments. There’s a 60ft Christmas Tree lighting up the West Piazza and the air is rich with festive smells as mulled wine rises from the food carts and there’s live entertainment to keep things fun.

Thursday evenings throughout November and December are open for late night shopping.

Southbank Centre Winter Market

Nestled along the Thames, the Southbank Centre Winter Market is a haven for handmade creations. The market features wooden chalets brimming with handcrafted ceramics, textiles, and sustainable gifts. It’s an ideal spot for discovering one-of-a-kind treasures while soaking in views of the river and London’s skyline.

Greenwich Christmas Market

This historic market at Greenwich is renowned for supporting local artisans and independent makers. There is a really wide range of stalls and shops, and Christmas-inspired treats from around the world with a variety of handcrafted goods, including leather accessories, artwork, and natural skincare products. Open daily from 10am to 5pm, Greenwich Market is perfect for food lovers, offering delectable treats alongside your gift-hunting.

Kingston Christmas Market

Just outside central London, Kingston’s traditional Alpine-style market is worth the trip. It has an array of unique handmade items—from wooden toys to festive candles—it’s a great destination for gifts with a personal touch. Strolling through the market’s cosy wooden stalls feels like stepping into a winter fairy tale. It’s open daily from 10am to 6pm (with late night till 8pm Thursday to Saturday).

Whether you’re buying for loved ones or treating yourself, these markets offer an unforgettable shopping experience and they are so much fun. They really help us to get into the festive mood, and feel magical, especially with their twinkly lights and handmade wonders.
